The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) strives to enrich Chicago’s artistic vitality and cultural vibrancy.  Through a generous grant from the Joyce Foundation, DCASE will award two Curatorial Fellowship opportunities to diverse Chicago-based curators, via a competitive review process.  This program aims to support Chicago’s curators in their creative process while increasing the diversity of expression and representation in the larger artistic community in Chicago. The program supports curators who demonstrate a level of commitment to their work that indicates promise, and/or those who are on the brink of career advancement. Throughout the 3 month residency period, DCASE will provide work space at the Chicago Cultural Center, financial support, engagement with DCASE staff, artists and curatorial fellows, and the opportunity to engage with the public in formal and informal settings  In addition, the year-long development of a cohort of artists* and curatorial fellows via studio visits, critiques, and salons is an integral component of this residency which culminates in a group exhibition and written documentation at the Chicago Cultural Center.
