Governor Scott released his veto list this afternoon, and we’re pleased to communicate to all of you that the appropriations recommended by the Florida Legislature for the Divisions of Cultural Affairs’ and Historical Resources’ grants programs, Florida Humanities Council, and Arts for a Complete Education are safe. The Governor did not veto those line items. He, however, did veto some of the legislative projects that were added to those line items. Refer to the Governor’s veto list and those line items highlighted in yellow.
Here is a copy of the entire budget as submitted to the Governor by the Florida Legislature, SB 2000.
Here is a breakdown that outlines what the legislature recommended for arts, arts education, cultural, and historical resources in its proposed budget for FY 2011-2012. Some of those line items originally recommended for funding were vetoed by the Governor as reflected in the yellow highlighted line items.
Quick summary of budget highlights for our industry after Governor’s veto list came out this afternoon — these amounts are recommended for FY 2011-2012 in the state budget:
$2,000,000 for Cultural and Museum Grants
$500,000 for Culture Builds Florida/Specific Cultural Project Grants
$350,000 for the Florida Humanities Council
$900,000 for Historic Preservation Grants ($200,000 for Government House Interpretative Film & Exhibit in St. Augustine and $200,000 for Government House Museum Renovations in St. Augustine were not vetoed by the Governor, leaving $500,000 for historic preservation grants)
