On Saturday, 27 April, 2013, 73 artists selected for the Sixth All-Media Juried Biennial went on display at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood. The continued success of the Biennial has featured paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, photography, video, computer generated images, performance and site specific installations.
Award winners will be selected for Best in Show ($2,000 prize), First Place ($1,000 prize), Second Place ($600 prize), Third Place ($400 prize), and five Honorable Mentions. Award winners will be announced at the opening reception. This year’s jurors are Hunter Braithwaite, Miami Rail editor, and Gean Moreno, founder of [NAME] Publications, critic, curator, and artist.
The Biennial produces an exhibition that shows local and regional tendencies, often featuring an increasing number of artists below the radar of generalization. The biennial is a format of extended, or expanded exhibition type. They can shape the spectator’s experience, triggered by looking to understand, in this particular case, the two juror’s insights. Such exhibitions are a selective offering to an audience, and never the last word on its subject.
