The Knight Arts Challenge Miami is coming to you:
“One of the beautiful things about Miami is that while Wynwood and Miami Beach put us on the national map, each year there’s more great art emerging in neighborhoods from Delray Beach to Homestead.
We see it in Urgent Inc.’s community murals in Overtown, in Tarell McCraney’s 90-minute modern version of Hamlet in Coral Gables, and in Arts Garage’s performances in Palm Beach. We want to see it happen even more.
So this year, the Knight Arts Challenge, which offers funding to innovative ideas that bring our community together through the arts, is going on the road, so to speak, with four community Q & A sessions from Fort Lauderdale to South Dade. Come ask us questions, find out what we’re looking for in applications, etc. Former winners will be in the audience to help too.
Here’s the list of times and dates.
- Ft. Lauderdale: 7 p.m. Feb. 18: Cinema Paradiso, 503 SE 6th St.
- North Central Dade: 7 p.m. Feb. 19: Opa-locka City Hall, 780 Fisherman St., Second Floor
- Downtown Miami: 7 p.m. Feb. 20: Cannonball, Downtown Miami, 1035 N. Miami Ave., Suite 200
- South Dade: 7 p.m., Feb. 21: South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center, 10950 SW 211 St.
