I love this work, period. The process of the making is so intensely wedded to the work, yet it has such an organic feel while being stiff and ridgid.

Speaking in her studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Ursula von Rydingsvard explains the process behind her wooden sculptures constructed from carefully arranged strips of wood. Taking up to a year to produce, the serene quality of these sculptures belie a complex and often hazardous method of creation.
