Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale is hosting a FREE arts scholarship competition on Saturday, April 17, 2010 from 10 am to 1 pm.
Students in grades 1 to 12 can compete to win scholarships to study painting, design, or illustration this summer at the Museum of Art’s Creative Summer Art Academy.
All students (or their parents) have to do is RSVP TODAY by calling 954-262-0239 or e-mailing education1@moafl.org. We ask people to RSVP as quickly as possible.
Check in is at 9:15 am on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale. Participants are divided into groups of grades: 1 to 4; 5 to 8; and 9 to 12. During the competition, the students will have three hours to create one drawing from a still life.
And while parents are waiting for their children to finish, they can enjoy complimentary refreshments in the Museum Café and take a free, guided tour of the Museum’s entire collection and current exhibition.
Parents (and students) also get to meet the very talented staff of professional artists who will be providing one-on-one instruction while their child is at the Summer Art Academy.
Last year, we had 200 students compete and we awarded over 75 scholarships – so the odds of winning are pretty good.
The scholarship money is provided by the money that is donated during our annual National Art Festival, which takes place over the final weekend in January. All proceeds are given back to the community through the scholarship fund.
And students who do not win a scholarship get something anyway: They get 10 percent off if they decide to enroll.
