NEA Gives $26.3 Million in Art Works Grants

According to the NEA, 817 institutions are being awarded its latest round of Art Works grants, which add up to $26.3 million in funding around the country. The grants reward initiatives that support “the creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence, public engagement with diverse and excellent art, lifelong learning in the arts,” and “the livability of communities through the arts.” Winners receiving support for visual-art-related projects include the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art, receiving $35,000 for its Time-Based Art Festival, and Performa, which will get $35,000 for its thirteenth biennial. The Association of Art Museum Directors, meanwhile, won $40,000 for its Pipeline Project, which aims to increase the diversity of professional museum staff, and the College Art Association will collect $20,000 for ARTspace, a programming component of its annual conference.
